Simargl

from Simargl (promo) by Slavogorje

/

about

"Simargl is a deity or mythical creature in East Slavic mythology, depicted as a winged lion or dog. An idol of Semargl was present in the pantheon of Great Prince Vladimir I of Kiev. It may be the equivalent of Simurgh in Persian mythology which is also represented as a griffin with a dog body. But according to Vyacheslav Vsevolodovich Ivanov and Vladimir Toporov, the name comes from the Slavonic Sedmor(o)-golvъ (with seven heads)."

lyrics

Ove zemlje pustoš nose
Kroz vlasi moje mrtve kose
A smjerom kraja minule ere
Simargl svoje plode bere

Dok sunce krati svjetlost dana
A večer prostire svoj put
Čuvarice neba Aurore
Pečače naš usud

Danica i Zora u sjaju zvijezda
Kuju lance teške nasred neba
Okove od čelika i mjeda
Da spriječe uništenje svijeta

Simargl, zvijer i lavež i krila
Simargl je početak kraja
